Any thoughts???

We would like to invite you to comments on your own search for authenticity in performance.

We have so many questions from our process...

How is it possible to act 'yourself' in a performance situation?

Can you ever truely be 'yourself'?

How can I arrive in to my body and the space without entering that 'performance' mode for the audience?

Is it ok to speak?

Is it ok to laugh?

Is it ok to feel uncomfortable?

What do you think?

New developments

Hi all...

Its has been a busy few weeks since this wonderful New Year began and we have made lots of progress towards our premiere performance of Unquiet.

Unquiet is an intimate informal duet seeking to uncover notions of authenticity within the performer and performance.

We are very proud of our work so far and will be spending some time documenting our progress on this blog in the lead up to the big night...

Keep posted!

thinking and making

After our first studio session, I have begun to think about the relationship between dance and art in the making process.  In order to source movement material my objective is not to explore thephysical ways into movement(movement tasks).  I find myself contemplating tasks that integrate the body and mind, usually through artistic, sculptural or creative tasks.  For example; allowing the body and mind to explore the texture of cloth.  How it can consume or be consumed, how we can move within the restrictions of the cloth, the cloth as skin or as blank canvas for the body.  By giving myself something other than movement to worry about, Iinstinctively move more freely and with authenticity.  I have found that by taking dance out of the equation I find movement easier.

Does anyone else feel the same way?
